Hi I’m Lucy!
It's nice to meet you. Start and Settle is the culmination of half a decade of work supporting families. My style of support focuses on starting the process of preparing for baby with birth education and birth and postpartum planning, as well as helping families settle into their fourth trimester and new routine once baby comes home. Becoming a parent is one of life’s biggest transitions! I am here to offer nonjudgmental, holistic support as you navigate this season of excitement and change.
How I Got Started
I started my career working with parents and families while I was living in New York City. There, I worked with children ages 0-3, teaching early childhood classes while also nannying for families who were in the process of expanding their family. Through my work, I was exposed to the intimate care that is needed as families enter the 4th trimester, otherwise known as early postpartum. I then began training as a doula to expand my services and better support the families in my community. When the pandemic hit, I began a new career opportunity working on the founding team of a luxury hospitality startup focused on young families in Tribeca, NYC. There, I wrote, taught, and managed programming for families with children ages 0-8. I also offered one-on-one doula support to members of our community, focusing on topics like lactation, VBACs, adding a new baby to the family, and fostering the postpartum period.
After 4 years in the fast-paced startup environment, I made the choice to relocate to Salem, Massachusetts, with my husband. I now work in the nonprofit space, supporting children and families in the greater Boston area with youth-serving programming. My flexible work schedule has allowed me to make more room for the in-person perinatal support I love providing. At Start and Settle, my mission is to provide holistic birth education and postpartum support to families in my new community. In my spare time, you can find me at yoga or barre, cooking, hiking with my rescue pit, Archie, or singing show tunes in my car.
My Approach
-
Once you reach out, you will receive a questionnaire to complete prior to our first conversation. During our intro call or meeting, we will connect on what kind of support you are looking for and how my approach can fit your expectations.
-
When you are ready to move forward with contracting for my services, we will set a loose timeline and support proposal plan. Once we have ironed out the details, you will receive a contract and a deposit invoice. Payment plans are always available.
-
As the time approaches for us to work together, I will be in touch to see if there is anything special you want to focus on. If booking postpartum doula support, I will be in touch once your baby is here to see how I can best serve you in your first days of new parenthood.
